VaporSorb® Reusable Vapor Removal Pouch
Various combustible, flammable and noxious vapors can be generated in normal industrial and commercial operations. Unfortunately, most ventilation systems only recirculate room air and remove large particulate matter such as dirt, dust, and lint. Noxious vapors are left free to recirculate in the air you breathe. Over time, they could increase in concentration in manufacturing areas, storage cabinets, chemical storage areas, etc., and result in a serious fire hazard as well as an indoor air pollution problem. This could lead to complaints from customers as well as employees and OSHA fines.
According to the EPA, "indoor pollution can be as much as 100 times greater than outdoors." Since most people spend close to 90% of their time indoors, indoor air pollution poses a serious health risk. Medical problems that have been associated with poor indoor air quality include dizziness, headaches, eye nose or throat irritation, dry or itchy skin, nausea, shortness of breath, difficulty in concentrating, fatigue, sensitivity to odors, allergies, depression, and chronic illnesses.
The VaporSorb® Vapor Absorbent Pouch was specially developed to remove harmful vapors from the atmosphere by adsorbing, neutralizing, and encapsulating them on contact for safe disposal. VaporSorb® is non-flammable and will reduce the explosive nature of whatever gas it adsorbs. Furthermore, it can reduce the aggressiveness of smoke and hazardous vapors that are captured. VaporSorb® will truly cleanse the air of noxious vapors and complement existing ventilation systems. It works quickly, efficiently, cost-effectively and results in reducing the health risks associated with vapor build up.
How VaporSorb® Works
The VaporSorb® Vapor Absorbent Pouch is a natural highly absorbent material that can be used to eliminate noxious vapors. VaporSorb® is negatively charged whereas many vapors ride on positively charged particles. As a result, VaporSorb® draws in vapors like a strong magnet. Thereafter, it traps, neutralizes, and encapsulates the vapors without smelly cover-ups. The molecular structure of VaporSorb® is made up of a lattice structure arranged to form a honeycomb framework of billions of interconnecting channels. This gives VaporSorb® an enormous surface area that is larger than several football fields. The latter enables VaporSorb® to adsorb phenomenal amounts of vapors and work for months.
The VaporSorb® Vapor Absorbent Pouch is non-toxic, safe, non-hazardous, natural, and non-scented. It is an ideal environmentally friendly product for eliminating vapors and improving indoor air quality. VaporSorb® does not contain chemical additives and is especially beneficial for those suffering from chemical sensitivity.
VaporSorb® can be effectively used by all types of industrial and commercial facilities to adsorb vapor from any enclosed area. Typical applications include:
- Safety Storage Cabinets
- Organic Waste Cans
- Chemical Storage Rooms
- Shipping Containers
- Top of Solvent Drums
- Dry Cleaners
- Any Other Enclosed Area With Vapors
For a breath of fresh air, simply remove the plastic cover, place VaporSorb® pouches in the area to treated, and notice the difference. Use one or more pouches for every 300 square feet. This product will function most efficiently in an enclosed area with good air circulation. To obtain the best results, remove the odor sources (e.g. spills and open containers) and clean the affected area prior to treating with VaporSorb®. For extra effectiveness, use this product in conjunction with VaporSorb® Vapor Absorbent Granules.
Rejuvenating, Reusing & Recycling
The VaporSorb® Vapor Absorbent Pouches may be reused repeatedly after periodically rejuvenating them. Rejuvenate the pouches weekly until a noticeable decrease in vapor and fumes are detected. Thereafter, rejuvenate them every 3-4 months or when vapor and fume levels increase. To rejuvenate, simply place the pouches in direct sunlight for a day and reuse.
The number of times VaporSorb® can be rejuvenated and its actual life span will depend on the odor concentrations, temperature, humidity and velocity of air flow it is exposed to. Replace the pouches every 3-4 months or when rejuvenation eventually fails to work.
Unused VaporSorb® vapor and fume control media or used media that has not been exposed to hazardous substances can be recycled by removing this material from the pouch and applying to gardens, flower beds, yards, fields, potting soil and plant beds with thorough watering. It will act as a slow release fertilizer and help retain soil moisture.
The unused VaporSorb® Vapor Absorbent Pouch is non-hazardous and environmentally safe. However, this will change if it is exposed to hazardous or toxic substances and should be disposed according to all relevant local, state, and federal regulations.

Q & A
Questions & AnswersAsk a Question
We have a situation where we use bottled Nitrogen to purge Polyalphaolefin (PAO) from a unit. This produces a vapor cloud after the PAO has been purged. Could the Vapor absorber pouch be used to attract and collect the odorless vapor as it rises from the container? How effective would the pouch be in removing and eliminating the vapor?
I think there is a very good chance that the VaporSorb Reusable Vapor Absorbent Pouches can be effectively used to capture the polyalphaolefin vapors they rise from the container. The material in this product has a strong affinity for hydrocarbons so it should attract the PAO like a magnet and absorb and adsorb it within the intermolecular pores. Since it has a very high surface area, it should be able to trap and eliminate significant amounts of polyalphaolefin vapors and retain it. I would suggest getting some samples to do some testing.
What is the approximate mass of solvent vapor that can be adsorbed? What material is the pouch made of?
VaporSorb is made from a highly porous inert metal oxide absorbent material that is safe to use to eliminate various solvent vapors and fumes. It has a capacity to absorb around 15-25 weight percent depending on the nature of the solvent vapors. Eg. 1,000g of VaporSorb can absorb about 15-25g of the solvent vapors.
