Nursing Home Odor Problems

Often times nursing homes and healthcare facilities are invaded by unpleasant sick room, chemical, urine, fecal, vomit, spill, bacteria, mold, and mildew odors. Unfortunately, most ventilation systems only recirculate room air and remove large particulate matter such as dirt, dust, and lint. Pungent nursing home odors are left free to recirculate in the air you breathe and will increase in concentration if left untreated. Covering up nasty nursing home odors with masking agents like perfumes pollute the air with chemicals and many times result in even more offensive smells.

The Solution

The Smelleze® Natural Nursing Home Smell Deodorizer Granules were specially developed to adsorb, neutralize, and encapsulate many pungent nursing home odors on contact. Smelleze® will truly cleanse the air of offensive odors, complement existing ventilation systems and result in a fresh smelling environment. This will help create a healthy, chemical free atmosphere for patients.

It's No Cover-up

The Smelleze® Natural Nursing Home Smell Deodorizer Granules are a natural deodorizer that can be used to eliminate pungent sick room, chemical, urine, fecal, vomit, bacteria, mold, and mildew odors instead of merely masking them with fragrances. Smelleze® is negatively charged whereas odoriferous gases ride on positively charged particles. As a result, Smelleze® draws in nursing home odors like a strong magnet. Thereafter, it traps, neutralizes, and encapsulates the odors without smelly cover-ups. The molecular structure of Smelleze® is made up of a lattice structure arranged to form a honeycomb framework of billions of interconnecting channels. This gives Smelleze® an enormous surface area that is larger than several football fields. The latter enables Smelleze® to adsorb phenomenal amounts of nursing home odors.

Environmentally Friendly

The Smelleze® Natural Nursing Home Smell Deodorizer Granules are non-toxic, safe, non-hazardous, natural, non-scented, non-flammable, and non-caustic. It is an ideal environmentally friendly product for eliminating hospital odors without adding pollutants to the air you breathe. Smelleze® does not contain chemical additives and is especially beneficial for those suffering from chemical sensitivity.

Applications

Smelleze® can be effectively used on beds, coaches, upholstery, floors, carpets, bedpans, garbage cans, etc. to eliminate unpleasant odors in any type of nursing home and health care facility.

Directions

For a breath of fresh air, simply sprinkle 2-6 tablespoons Smelleze® granules per square foot on area to be deodorized, vacuum or clean up 20-30 minutes later, and smell the difference. For really tough odors, clean up 12-24 hours after sprinkling Smelleze® and repeat procedure, if necessary. This product works great on urine and other spills. It will function most efficiently in an enclosed area with good air circulation. To obtain the best results, remove the odor sources (e.g. open containers) prior to treating with Smelleze®. For extra effectiveness, use this product in conjunction with Smelleze® Natural Nursing Home Smell Deodorizer Pouch.

Disposal

The unused Smelleze® Natural Nursing Home Smell Deodorizer Granules are non-hazardous and environmentally safe. However, this may change if it is exposed to hazardous or toxic substances. Used Smelleze® should be disposed according to all relevant local, state, and federal regulations

Questions & Answers

Ask a Question
  • I need a product to remove the odor of urine from an adult man's clothes.

I would recommend using Odoreze™ Natural Laundry Deodorizing Additive to get the urine odor out from your clothing and washer. You can simply add it to your regular detergent in the wash machine to eliminate the urine odor from the smelly clothes while doing your laundry. For really severe urine odors, you may soak the odor laden clothing in Odoreze™ overnight and then wash them with your regular detergent plus Odoreze™ in your washer.

Odoreze™ is sold as a concentrate and a single 16 oz. bottle can make 64 gallons. This averages to only paying 45 cents/gallon for a natural odor remover that works. Most store bought ready to use deodorizers contain over 95% water and that’s what you’re paying for. When we supply the Odoreze™ concentrate and you supply the water, you save big.

  • If urine was spilled in a carpet a couple weeks ago and carpet was treated immediately with a ER baking soda solution that helped. There may be a lingering smell. Do you recommend the smellers granules? Is it a dry product or do you add water?

I would reccommend using the powder format mainly because it is easier to vacuum. Apply the powder, leave overnight for best results, and vacuum. Repeat as necessary. Use the dry products directly- there is no need to add water.

  • Is there a web site where I can find out the causes of elderly odor, not only in a an indoor setting like a home, plus when and how it occurs when one smalls it on a person.

The source of elderly odors can be both internal (diet, illness, aging, ect) as well as external (soiled clothes, sweat, ect). Sorry, I'm not aware of a website that has details on the causes but our product will help solve this problem easily.

  • My neighbors have their old mother living downstairs and she's bed bound. She goes to the bathroom in her bed and I smell everything all the time through my vents, when I turn the heat on. What can I do to get rid of this shitty smell in my house,......

This is a challenging problem especially since the urine stench is coming from your neighbor's place. I would suggest hanging SMELLEZE Reusable Nursing Home Deodorizer Pouches on the vents where the bad pee smell is entering your home. You can also unscrew the vent and place it inside if you don't want the pouch to be visible. The will filter out odors from incontinence and other typical elderly smells. If you can also get your neighbor to place a pouch or two on his mother's room, that will also go a long way in eliminating this problem.
