Embalming Fluid Odor Problems

The use of formaldehyde in embalming fluids is now required by all state laws. Unfortunately, formaldehyde is a pungent-smelling substance that can vaporize at room temperature. The strong, unpleasant formaldehyde odor is offensive to many people. Unfortunately, most ventilation systems only recirculate room air and remove large particulate matter such as dirt, dust, and lint. Noxious formaldehyde and other embalming fluid odors are left free to recirculate in the air you breathe. Over time, they could increase in concentration and result in serious indoor air pollution problems e.g. sick building syndrome. Medical problems that have been associated with formaldehyde exposure include watery eyes, burning sensations in the eyes and throat, nausea, and difficulty in breathing. High concentrations may trigger asthma attacks in people with asthma. There is evidence that some people can develop chemical sensitivity after exposure to formaldehyde. Furthermore, formaldehyde is also known to pose a carcinogenic and mutagenic risk to humans. The health and odor problems associated with formaldehyde could lead to complaints from customers as well as employees and OSHA fines.

The Solution

The Smelleze® Natural Embalming Smell Deodorizer Powder was specially developed to adsorb, neutralize, and encapsulate embalming fluid odors on contact. Smelleze® will truly cleanse the air of noxious formaldehyde and other embalming fluid odors, complement existing ventilation systems, and create a safer environment.

It's No Cover-up

The Smelleze® Natural Embalming Smell Deodorizer Powder is a natural deodorizer that can be used to eliminate noxious and unpleasant embalming odors instead of merely masking them with fragrances. Smelleze® is negatively charged whereas embalming fluid odors ride on positively charged particles. As a result, Smelleze® draws in embalming fluid odors like a strong magnet. Thereafter, it traps, neutralizes, and encapsulates the odors without smelly cover-ups. The molecular structure of Smelleze® is made up of a lattice structure arranged to form a honeycomb framework of billions of interconnecting channels. This gives Smelleze® an enormous surface area that is larger than several football fields. The latter enables Smelleze® to adsorb phenomenal amounts of embalming fluid odors.

Environmentally Friendly

The Smelleze® Natural Embalming Smell Deodorizer Powder is non-toxic, safe, non-hazardous, natural, non-scented, non-flammable, and non-caustic. It is an ideal environmentally friendly solution for eliminating formaldehyde and other embalming fluid odors without adding pollutants to the air you breathe. Smelleze® does not contain chemical additives and is especially beneficial for those suffering from chemical sensitivity.

Applications

Smelleze® can be cost effectively used to eliminate embalming fluid odors. Typical applications include:

  • Anatomy Labs
  • Autopsy Rooms
  • Funeral Homes
  • Morgues
  • Pathology Labs

Directions

For a breath of fresh air, simply sprinkle 1-3 tablespoons Smelleze® powder per square foot on cadaver and smell the difference. This product will function most efficiently in an enclosed area. For extra effectiveness, use this product in conjunction with the Smelleze® Funeral Home/Autopsy Deodorizer Pouch.

Disposal

The unused Smelleze® Natural Embalming Smell Deodorizer Powder is non-hazardous and environmentally safe. However, this may change if it is exposed to hazardous or toxic substances. Used Smelleze® should be disposed according to all relevant local, state, and federal regulations

Questions & Answers

Ask a Question
  • 8 Years ago I bought a 3000 sq ft. home that had previously been an embalming place in the basement and a 4 limo garage. Living quarters were on the 2nd floor. We have done extensive repairs along with furnace/AC roof walls and carpet on 2nd floor, but as soon as you open the door upstairs and down, the death smell overwhelms you. After a little while I guess you get used to it. Do you think this Smeeleze will get rid of the odor permanently?

Yes, Smelleze will help. Firstly, I would recommend using Smelleze Reusable Corpse Smell Deodorizer Pouches to eliminate the death odor from the air. For clean air, simply place Smelleze pouches in all rooms or spaces with the bad odor. Secondly, you can sprinkle Smelleze Natural Embalming Smell Deodorizer Powder on your carpet and other soft surfaces to draw the odor out before it's released into the air.
